United Colors of Benetton

A couple weeks ago Professor Robles mentioned the Ad campaign that Benetton runs. It directs attention to issues that are totally unrelated to the product they are selling. Is this effective? Is it promoting something other than clothes?

Click on the title to go to their site and look at all of their ad campaigns.

Haha! the babies are naked! Clothes are not even featured in the ad. One thing for sure is that Benetton takes its name seriously. All the ads show "united colors", literally. It shows diverse people in harmony. I think that this image is successful in that it makes the ads more global. I think that the minimal words and action but use of diversity means that people across the world can understand the message.
